Raising Awareness During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Posted .

October is breast cancer awareness month, and we want to help you do your part to protect yourself and those you love from this disease. This is a fight we all need to face together, so let’s work together for each other.

Each new year over 1 million women (and sometimes men) are diagnosed with breast cancer and almost 500,000 are killed by it. Right now we still don’t know enough about any form of cancer to cure it, so early detection and traditional treatments are our best tools for winning this fight.

Every month, you should examine your breasts. Be sure to do it at the same time each month, as they have slight changes from month to month. Learn how they feel now so you can tell if an abnormality comes up. If you find one, don’t wait to call your doctor when you’re more certain. Call them immediately and schedule an examination. It’s much better to be safe than sorry.

In this fight against breast cancer, we are much stronger together. Take the time to call your friends and remind them to do a self-examination and visit the doctor. Remind your doctor to talk to other women about breast cancer. Post to social media. The more we do together, the easier this fight will be.

Dr. Julie Kupersmith and our team will be happy to answer any questions you may have about how you can help. Call our office in New Rochelle, New York, to talk with our team.
